When we think about animals in movies we often see them as
an irrelevant and cosmetic addition that doesn't have a bigger impact on the
plot. Fortunately, there are few exceptions, one of them being “Hachi: A Dog's
Tale” - a movie where dog is a main and most important character in the story.
“Hachi: A Dog's Tale” is based on actual events film that
tells the story of the Akita Inu (dog's breed) with the same name. The very
young at that time dog was accidentally found on a railway station by a man
named Parker Wilson who was a professor of music. Parker helps Hachi by taking
him home and looking after him. They quickly get attached to each other and the
dog starts to daily wait for his new owner to come back from his academic job
at the same station he was found at. Everything goes great until the one,
unfortunate day when the man dies at his academy due to health issues. In spite
of man's not coming up, Hachi doesn't stop to wait for him… and it continued
for over 10 years until the dog died of helminthic disease of lungs and heart.
The movie is very touching and was the first one to make me
truly cry. I really recommend it to everyone.
